The Rajdani in West Kingsdown near Sevenoaks was named ‘Best Indian Restaurant in the South East’ at the prestigious Asian Curry Awards 2017.

It offers a mix contemporary Indian dishes and popular Bangladeshi curry house favourites, within a relatively short menu that appeals to all tastes.

The restaurant takes its name from the Bengali term for ‘capital city.’ In days gone by, the finest spices and other culinary ingredients could only be sourced together in the capital’s food markets, so this was where the best chefs and restaurants were found. Today, ‘rajdani’ is more commonly used as the colloquial Bengali term for ‘town’.

This family-run destination restaurant celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.  Since taking over the business from his father Abdul and cousin Suna Miah, restaurateur Rob Khan has invested heavily to fully refurbish the 100-seat venue.

Rob and his head chef, Jimmy Shah, have also modernised the menu adding lighter, healthier options and extending the vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and fish choices – while retaining its popular curries and tandooris. A strong wine list includes Chablis, Pouilly Fumé, Châteauneuf-du-Pape alongside Bollinger and Moet et Chandon champagnes.

Located just a few hundred yards from the Brands Hatch motorsports circuit, The Rajdani, a roomy venue with al-fresco tables and a large private car park, attracts customers from around the country on event days.

To kick start the weekend, there is live entertainment every Friday night. The restaurant also holds a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award and is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week. Dine in or takeaway.
